I have used a 30 of the disks so far and only about 60% of the disks actually worked.
Memorex CD's work well and I have purchased them before in store. Which is what I recommend that you do, because I believe they were super over-priced on Amazon. However, I an avid online shopper so I suppose I pay the price for it.
They are too heavy to return (costs too much) so I suppose I must take 100% loss and give them away to someone. Misconception -- too expensive to return--NOT what I wanted nor expected. The packaging is the same color Memorex of my CD's for my Sony Mavica camera, supposed to be "pocket disks" and they are not, so I cannot use them. I'm now skiddish re: ordering on Amazon, because I do NOT have what I needed and I have these that I do not want and cannot use. Thank you for the opportunity to express info re: my experience.
It's a good thing that I still have another copy.As for the quality of the CD's, if I had to describe it in one word, it would be reliable. But when I tried to burn them, half of them didn't work. The primary purpose of these discs I bought were to serve as backup and if my original CD's get ruined, I'll still have a copy. That means that you'll have to pay another $10 for another copy of the CD. The Verbatim incident forced me to be more cautious. I burned 50 CD's, I get 50 working CD's. At first, I though it was a great buy, with 100 of them at only $22.
Besides, I prefer the design on the Memorex discs anyways. If I ever decided to buy more CD discs, Memorex is my choice. This was apparently a smart decision I made, since one of my CD's just recently got scratched and skips and gets stuck at the middle of a few songs. The success rate did get higher when I lowered the burning speed, but that was never an issue with these Memorex discs. This is extremely important because what if some failed, and you never realized that until your original copy died and when you pop in the replacement CD, only to find a nasty surprise waiting for you: the disc not working. That has actually happened to me with a few of the Verbatim ones. My only regret is that I bought the 50-pack instead of the 100-packs. I'm definitely buying the 100-packs next time around.
Was in need of some CDs so I could clean all my music off my computer. These will hold almost two entire CDs on them, and they do not seem to scatch as easily as some of the other blank CD-R CDs that I've bought in the past. Will have to get more so I am stocked up in the future.
